We had a party together for our last day at the HIV village w/ our jewelry project. We got to hear stories about their lives and hear about their struggles. And then we also got to share about the Hope and Love that Christ offers to them.
We started out w/ having everyone tell us their age, how many kids they have and what their favorite thing to eat is. This guys said his favorite thing to eat is "everything!" :)
We brought food to have a big meal together. It was amazing how such a small thing ment SO much to them! From years and years of being treated different and diseased- it ment so much to them that we would actually sit down and eat a meal with them. It touched my heart so much!
After awhile, they each started to open up and share w/ us what life has been like having HIV. How their spouse have died of it and how they fear for their kids to get it. And how they have been judged and mistreated for so many years b/c of it. It broke our hearts!
This women shared with us how she was tricked into sex slavery when she was 17 years old. Someone promised her a job in the city and then forced her into slavery. I think of everyone, her heart was being moved by God as we spoke about His love for each of them.
They presented us w/ this basket of dried banana's from their village as gratitude for this project we've done w/ them over the past 4 months.
Here they are looking at the information that Anne passed out- a book of John and some pamphlets w/ testimonies and information on them.
A group shot of us all! We will miss seeing them every week!! :(
She is so funny! We can't understand what she is saying, but she is always laughing and smiling! :)
I feel so privileged to have gotten to know these people. They are leaders in their village and we are praying for more ways we can help them.
They have told us about the orphans in their village who's parents have died of HIV and asked if we can help them. So please pray for us in knowing the best way to do this.
We will also be returning to this village for Christmas when we have a Christmas party and bring gifts for everyone & share the message of Hope in Christ. Please pray for our conversations and relationships with them.
