Well, I'm finally home after our weeks of travel.
It was actually quite a welcoming feeling coming back to Thailand. I understood the language being spoken (well, some of it), I recognized the smells, I knew what the food was . . . I think in short, I knew what to expect.
When I went into the airport bathroom, I knew what I'd find.
I knew what my cup of noodles was made out of and what it would taste like.
I knew how much my taxi was going to be and about how long it'd take to get me home.
I was finally back in familiar territory.
Though there is something fun and exotic about the unknowns in life & must not be avoided because of fear; there is also something just as magical about the known and predictable. Comforting about the familiar and recognizable.
Soothing about the ordinary.
Because- there is no place like home. No matter where "home" might be at any given moment.
So I sit on my bed- belly full of cheap Thai noodles, laundry going with weeks worth of dirty clothes & images of all the people I met over the past few weeks flowing through my mind.
I feel very thankful. Very satisfied & very happy to be home. In my pj's. And surrounded by the unpretentious setting of a simple bedroom.
*And btw- pictures and stories of our travels will follow soon . . . once I've caught up on some sleep!
