Day at the Girls' Home

Yesterday was quite a day at the Girls’ Government Home. Weekly we have been sending a team in to work with the girls on jewelry and to lead a Bible study. One new girl moved into the home this week. She’s 23 years old; the guy that got her pregnant was trying to force her to have an abortion but she resisted and got away from him. So her situation is not safe to be in that province. As Anne is telling me this story she shares with me how angry (righteous anger) it makes her to hear these stories. But one of the ladies who recently decided to follow the Lord and has been coming to church every Sunday is starting to evangelize to the other girls. She already told this new girl about how much Jesus has helped her. Amazing!

Also 3 new girls were rescued the night before from a hotel. The manager of this home was at the police station until 4 am working on their case. These 3 girls are between the ages of 15-17 and were tricked in going to the hotel. They are currently investigating their case and we will know more soon about the situation. The manager of this home told Anne that she would give her a call to give her more information, and asked that if they do stay in the home could we help them with jewelry. She explained to Anne the immediate improvements she has seen in these girls by them doing the jewelry. She sees how it is helping them emotionally to have purpose and focus. She also shared how singing together in the Bible study brings them joy and peace. She told Anne that we could have a room anytime we wanted to do these activities.

Please be praying for these new girls! Imagine the emotions that must be going on inside of them and how much God longs to draw them into His arms and show them His loving kindness.
