Mission Africa

So recently, Jen and I had the fun opportunity to go to a fund raising brunch for an organization that raises money for families in Africa (Alarm). The host, Alison, sent out an email thanking us all for attending. She puts everything into better words than I would, so I'm just going to cut/paste her email. The links in the email are GREAT. The one for the NY Times is WELL worth the read! And there is a link about the ministry, Alarm, if you would like more information.
It really was a privilege to be part of something bigger than ourselves. To know that for the cost of going out to dinner or lunch one time, could feed a whole family for who knows how long- it's mind boggling!
I encourage you all to prayerfully consider how the Lord is asking you to provide for His children all over the world. Even $10 (the per person donation from this brunch) can make a HUGE impact!

Hi Everyone!

We just wanted to take the chance to say 'Thanks!' for spending your lunch with us on Sunday and for making the effort to make a difference.

By giving a few hours of your time and your 'lunch money' (and more) to ALARM we were able to raise $450, which will buy 6 (and a half) pigs and make a lasting impact on many more lives.

For the first two brunches that brings our total up to $680....almost 10 pigs.

What a blessing that the Lord would use us as a tool as he blesses his people and demonstrates his provision and grace! He is even able to do it CONTINENTS away!

Thanks for being there! I am attaching a link to an article from the NYTimes that Elisabeth sent that shows the difference such a 'small' gift can make.

The next brunch will be Sunday, August 24th. Details to come in an evite! Please let us know if you know others who would like to be included.

For any questions or more details about ALARM you can contact any on the 'cc' line or go to
