The precious pups

So I got some inspiration to blog about my precious Jack and Josie today.

My first inspiration came from our morning devotional. We were talking about "why we love our children". Well, I dont have any children, so I was thinking about "why I love my dogs". The point was to illustrate God's love for us. Its not because of anything we do. In fact, we make messes, cry, drool, dont do what we are told, tear up furniture, pee on the floor (well, hopefully that is saved for just the dogs). But the point is, that God loves us regardless of all that stuff we do (or dont do). Its about His love for us. Just like we love our children and pets even though they aren't perfect. And its God that even Puts that love in our hearts for them.

My second inspiration came from my BFF, Kim G. She is dog sitting this week and it is SO funny to read her blog about it. I've known Kim since I was 5 and she was 4. Kim is a cat person. So to hear her talk about a dog and to start realizing how A-mazing they are, is really inspiring! Way to go Kim!!

So now I'm going to talk about my pups:
Jack can distinguish between his different toys. If you tell him to go get his "ball", he gets his ball. If you tell him to get his "ducky", he gets his ducky. Its quite amazing really!
Josie turns flips and spins around when she gets excited. Jen says it looks like she is breakdancing because she rolls on the floor and everything!
They know these words: sit, get down, go get in your bed, go lay down, go for a ride, go for a walk, go potty, want a treat, chase your tail, go get your _____, and we are still working on "no". That one is a toughie!! :)
Dogs are clever! Every night I take Jack out to "go potty" before bed. He knows that he gets a "cookie" after he does this. But there are some nights that he just doesnt need to go. So what does he do? He will walk over to the grass, stare at me to make sure I'm watching, stand there for about 5 seconds, and then run over to me all excited and acting like he did something! Then he races into the doggie door, stops and stares at the cookie jar in anticipation of his treat. What a little stinker!
Now Josie on the other hand, 9 times out of 10, she doesnt need to go and doesnt see the point of even going outside. So she will stick her nose out of the doggie door, where that is all I can see, and she will wait for Jack to come barreling in. Once he lines up for his cookie, she will line up right next to him for hers!
One of my favorite things about my dogs is that we can play and communicate and spend time with each other for Hours and never say word! I love getting one of the dogs alone and just playing with them in my room. (its Very hard to separate them, if one is getting love, the other one has to have it too). So its a nice treat to get some one-on-one time with them every once and awhile. And its so amazing to connect to this animal and know that they love you unconditionally, all the time!
They LOVE their belly to be rubbed. Jack used to hate this, but now, he'll decide at 3am that he wants "love" and will jump on my bed for a belly rub. I soon realized that buying into this show of affection was habit forming and had to restrain till the morning, forcing him back into his bed. But they are so sweet in the morning when all they want is love and attention. Their little eyes still adjusting to the light, their little bodies stretching and rolling around- they are the Sweetest when they first wake up.
So in closing, I love my dogs! And I think they are so adorable and amazing! Much like, I would imagine, most people feel about their kids. No matter how many messes they make, or how many times they lick me when I have clearly told them not to, they are so precious, perfect and life enhancing!
