Getting closer . . .

We had a VERY productive weekend!! Got a lot of things checked off our lists!

We did some shopping . . . we've been looking for cargo pants to take to Thailand with us. Advice from Jen's sister who lived in China for a year- you don't want to carry a purse- get cargo pants!

Along the way in looking for those, we ran across a few things that I had to take pics of:

This is size 1/2 - not a size 1 or size 0, but a size 1/2. What?!

If you know me, you know I hate the style from the 80's. I'm not kidding- these were for sale!! Pink stone washed skinny jeans!! Sick!!

They even had them on display!

Yes, it was disturbing enough for 3 photos!

Next was my camera bag . . .
In an effort to not spend $250 on a bag for all my camera equipment, I went to hobby lobby and bought some foam and Velcro- transforming my cheap walmart 6 year old carry-on into a padded photography roller bag! Saving $100's!!!

Here is what I was trying to imitate:

Here's what I made. Not too bad for $15!

Next was our bank situation . . .
Bank of America charges CrAzY fees for international ATMs. So Jen and I have been on a quest to find a better bank to use while in Thailand. We believe we have found that with Compass Bank. They have "build to order" free checking accounts and 2 of the free options are "no ATM fees all over the world" and "reimbursement of other banks' ATM fees" all over the world! How perfect is that?! Because the fees just kill you! Jen and I are going to be living off of support and we want to be so careful & wise with our money- since really it's other peoples money. Paying bank fees seems stupid if it can be avoided. We are praying that everything works out with this bank and feel really good about it!

Good 'ole Craig's List!
We have already sold a bookcase, table, bar stools, couch, tv stand and some Hard Rock Cafe pins all on Craig's List! It's sad seeing our house get empty, but also good to start to get things cleared out.
If anyone is interested, we still have lots of furniture left to sell! :)

Costco! Buying in bulk!
There are a few things that 2 girls traveling to a foreign country for 2 years need- in bulk . . . thankfully, thanks to the generosity of my Dad, I have a Costco card! We went and bought a lot of medicines, toiletry items & batteries at Costco.
Here is Jen having some fun!

Nasty Credit Cards!
While at Compass Bank, the very nice guy that helped us recommended that we cancel any credit cards we have that we don't use. Well from 5+ years ago, I had Banana, Gap, Old Navy, Target and Home Depot. All just lingering out there. So Jen and I made some phone calls and canceled all our old credit cards. We feel so free now!

Whew!! What a weekend its been!
And we are praying that we'll buy our Airline tickets THIS WEEK!! I'm so excited! We are still praying about one situation with them . . . and moving forward either way by Thursday.
A VERY special thank you to Mikele and Laura for their HUGE Generous Hearts!

  1. LOVE the camera bag.. and the costco video!! (very fun!:) ...(i think the pant-size might mean 1-2.. like how sometimes things are 5/6 rather than just 5 or 6.. just a thought ;)

    LOVE YOU!<3
