Life in Thailand

Many of you have asked what is life like in Thailand. Well….each day is a little different, and we have to be extremely flexible.

For the most part now that we are settled, here is a somewhat normal schedule:

• Workout early morning or sleep depending on how tired we are
• Go into town and study Thai at a coffee shop and have breakfast 8:30-10
• Language Class from 10-12
• Lunch with Chris or people from class
• Meet with Chris about Pure Heart Items
• Work on Pure Heart projects – scheduling, budgeting, planning water projects, setting up Teen Mania trips, work on projects for the homes, media, website, etc. Right now we are revamping everything so it’s a little overwhelming but take it one step at a time.
• Check internet if possible
• Study Thai

But some days we get to be out on the field. We visit villages that we are doing a project in or help with the jewelry training with the Thai’s, etc. The next month is going to be extremely busy and this normal schedule won’t be so normal.

Typical Food we eat: Completely depends on where we are at and what we are doing. For breakfasts we often get eggs and toast or a bagel with fresh fruit at the coffee shop for breakfast if we are studying in town. We often have fruit shakes – watermelon, pineapple, or banana. If we eat at home, we normally just have toast with peanut butter or oatmeal type stuff.
Lunch is usually out in town by the AUA school. We typically have a Thai lunch. Diner varies. Terra is a GREAT cook so we do get to eat a lot of western food, which is Awesome! But sometimes we have fried rice with pineapple or go out somewhere.
Remember, Thai’s don’t typically have kitchens in their homes and it’s usually cheaper to eat out than to stay in and cook!
