We are starting a list of “firsts”. The first time we’ve ever seen . . . Here is what we’ve seen as “firsts” so far in a month of living here:
Never before have we seen:
• A mom breastfeeding her baby while riding on the back of a motorbike
• A man driving a motorbike with a dead chicken in one hand and his small child in the other.
• 3 different types of iguanas at the same time- on the same bush!
• Motorbike vendor getting a customer at a stop light- and selling to him!
• Calling in our order for lunch at a local restaurant, and they were out of food
• An elephant and trainer walking down our neighborhood road
• A dog trotting down the road. In his mouth, he was carrying, by the handles, a "to-go" bag. He proceeded to find a nice shady area, dropped the bag, wiggled his nose into the bag and pulled out, in his mouth, a styrofoam "to-go" container. He then used his nose to open the container and enjoy his dinner
• Songkran- being SOAKED with buckets and buckets of water as we're driving down the highway on our motorbike
• Jen burning herself on the tailpipe of our motorbike :(
• Dogs riding shotgun on motorbikes
• A Dreaded Mullet (yes, a mullet made of dreads!)
(Stay tuned for more "firsts"- I'm sure they'll never end!)
Wow! It sounds like the Thai people are great multi-taskers. I'm waiting to hear about the breastfeeding mom holding a dead chicken in one arm, her baby in the other, an iguana on her shoulder with a dog riding shot gun, buying from a motorbike vendor with a horrible dreaded mullet being soaked by water all the while driving a motorbike. Whew!
