Work has been really busy, so I haven't been keeping up with posts and I'd like to apologize! Here's a little of what we've been up to lately! Pics out of order of course!
We took a trip to Mae Hong Son. Chris and Jen went for 3 days to do set up work for Teen Mania. I came in for 1.5 days because we're also working on our work permits there.
On the drive back home (7 hours starting around 3pm) we had a few things that stopped us on the way. This group of lovely people was our first stop. They waved us down because our truck looks like the red taxi's they use in Thailand! But we were more than happy to help these women and children get down the mountain!
Stop number 2 was random Water Buffalo wandering down the mountain! They were HUGE and it was raining and foggy! Very scary thing to almost run into!
We also stopped 3 different times for a heard of Cows that were just wandering down the mountain. Oh the strange things you see in Thailand!
Here's a pic of how beautiful the drive is! In the day time anyway!
On Saturday, we took a drive to Chiang Rai (3 hours north from where we live). One of our stops was an aids orphanage we've worked with in the past. We were just visiting them and getting things set for the Teen Mania kids to come there this summer.
A really funny label on an A/C unit I saw!
We also visited our 2 Boy's Homes in Chiang Rai. Not all the boys were there, but this bunch that we got to meet were Amazing!! They are seniors in college and all but one were English majors! It was really cool to hang out with them! We spent sometime doing praise and worship with them at their place.
They took us onto their campus, which claims to be "the 2nd most beautiful campus in the World!" (I dont know what they assume the first is!)
Group shot! We had a lot of fun with them! We ate lunch together, toured some of the campus and then went back to their place for worship.
Jen and I recently went to the Chinese Market that is on our way home everday from school. Here are just a few pics from that-
Sponge Bob sporting an Emo look on a 89 Baht t-shirt ($2.60)
Sweet lady in the market!
This woman was SOOO cute! She had the sweetest smile, but then got shy when I took her picture.
While in Mae Hong Son, we also got to spend an evening with our FAVORITE Burmese friend, Mubi. If you remember, Mubi is the one that let us into her village (Long Necks) to do our Clean Water Project.
Here's Chris and I havin' a good 'ole time.
Mubi is so cute! Our conversation lead to getting to have Teen Mania work in her village this summer, possibly helping her to fund Burmese refugee kids to get an education, possibly doing more Water Projects and just a LOT of laughter! Mubi is a good time! :)
She made a spread of food for us! Everytime we're with her it seems she's feeding us!
