The Thai New Year is almost upon us!
Songkran! A 3 day festival of throwing water on people!
Yes, it's over 100 degrees everyday, yes some refreshing water could feel nice here and there but no- I did NOT enjoy this event last year.

The day Jen and I decided to venture out and check out Songkran, we were still living 30 minutes from the city (which is where most of the action is). So we got soaked just on the drive there.
It was also an incredibly overcast day! So it was actually COLD that day once you got wet.

And, people can be pretty "ruthless" when it comes to soaking you. As that is the main goal. See this person on their bike?? Well we experienced this over and over and OVER again! for Hours! And when you are driving at times at 50mph, a full bucket of water that hits your chest can hurt pretty bad. and actually take your breath away.

So the jury is still out for me as if i'll actually venture out this year or not. I never saw any Elephants where we went, but then, we didnt go everywhere . . .
But now that we actually live IN the city . . .
the main square where all this takes place is about a 5 minute walk from our house.

Maybe if we were prepared . . . wore clothes that are ok to get wet in, and picked a HOT day . . . maybe I would venture out . . .

But for right now- my plan is to do enough grocery shopping to last me in the house for 3 days without having to get out. And renting some movies so I have something to do. Did i mention that this festival goes on non-stop for 3 whole days?! 3 whole days!!
We might get some waterguns and sit up on our 4th floor balcony and shoot people below =) I might actually enjoy that!
