Mother's Day

Today was a Very special day! It is Mother's Day in Thailand. And since it's a special holiday, we invited some non-christian Thai's to come to church.

From us doing jewelry at the Mae Rim school, we invited some of the students to come. 9 of them ended up coming.

We provided lunch for them and got to hang out, play games and get to know each other.

(Joy made muffins and Thai pasta! Yummm!)

Then, from us doing jewelry at the Handicap village, we invited the leader (Pii Wee Lie) to come. She has been asking us if she could come visit our church, so we arranged it so we could pick her up and bring her along w/ the Mae Rim students we picked up.

She came and brought her daughter and also a friend who brought her 2 boys.
During the invitation, Pii Wee Lie and her friend and their kids all went up!
They were So excited!

(Pii Wee Lie is the one on crutches. She was in a car accident years ago and lost one of her legs)

We got to talk to them after the service and she was just beaming and smiling from ear to ear!

She kept saying how Happy she was and how everyone was so nice to her. And that she had never experienced anything like this before! We got to talk to her for a while and hear her share her heart.
(I have a video I'm gonna post after I get it translated)

As they were leaving, she hugged me for a long time and said- "I love you!" It was really sweet b/c Thai's don't really say that. Her heart is just so full of joy right now that it's busting out! :)

Jack (pictured with both groups) will be following up with them and helping them figure out what all this means.

He is the pastor for the Mae Rim area, which is where the Handicap village and the school is located.

He already has a small church service that he runs at the school these student attend. So it will be a great way for them to get plugged in!

  2. Lydia says, "I love you". We just read and looked at these pictures together. Thank you so much for sharing bc this gives me an opportunity to talk to Lydia about other people, cultures, and Christ! She knows you and Jen are there to invite people to church. She noticed that the teacher has one leg...I started crying :) But, this helps me tell her that many people may look different then her but that God made them special. And, loves each of us. Out of the blue last night, Lydia said, God is my Daddy. Thank you for your encouragement and hearts!! we love you both
