I just sent Jen a crazy long email about the schedule this summer. She's in TX right now meeting/training the team that is coming.
So here is an idea of what we'll be doing:
1st 2 weeks we'll be in an area called SanKumPang. We'll be teaching English everyday to grade school kids as well as letting the volunteers join the Thai kids in some of their culture classes- like Thai dancing!
We'll also have a medical clinic in that school that the church is putting on.
We'll be close to many markets and the kids will spend some free time going there to do ministry/pray for people.
Then week 3 we drive to an area called Phayao. They'll be teaching english there to High School students. And then they'll also be hanging out a the college there during lunch time so they can meet Thai students, practice English w/ them and build relationships there.
Week 4 we drive to Chiang Rai (up in the mountains). I actually dont know what they'll be doing there (Jen and Anne know) but I'm sure it will be similar to the other places.
Week 5 will start with a day in Burma and then a day in Laos. And then we'll head back to Chiang Mai for the rest of their trip!
Among other things, they'll be: volunteering at an orphanage, participating in "Monk Chats", doing some manual labor indoors and outdoors, helping w/ church plants, riding elephants, bamboo rafting, & just generally getting a good taste of Thailand!!
Lots of pics will be posted as that is my main job!! It's all about finding free wifi up in this place!!
