A-rai Ga-die (everything/anything)

Watch out for that COW!!!

So, driving home the other day. Saw something Not out of the ordinary- a cow on the side of the road, right at a major intersection. They are always there, eatin' and chewin' their cud.
So we're coming up on this cow doing about 35mph on the motorbike when we notice that he's not actually chilin' and eatin'- he's running! And he's running INTO traffic! A huge black cow has gotten loose and is running RIGHT at us!! Thankfully there was nothing beside us, because we had to swerve to miss him. We turn around and see his rope around his neck isnt tied to anything and then see ANOTHER cow coming right behind him into the road. Then (and this is all in a second) we see the owner of these cows chasing after the black cow and is actually on the other end of the 2nd cow's rope. Not something you see everyday!

Last day of AUA!!

Today was finally our last day at AUA language class!!! Can I get an Amen?!
Though these classes were Totally helpful and very necessary, we aren't too sad to see them go. We both realize that to continue our learning will best be done with a private tutor. We've been planning all along to do this in the future and we're excited that the future is almost here! We'll get through Teen Mania first, then get to focus more on the language. Though, we're going to have LOTS of opportunities to practice while TMM is here! We're quite low on translators at the moment and I think we'll be doing some translating! Yikes!!!

"raow ja puut paasaa thai sahm-rap kuun" (we will speak Thai for you in the future)

Baptism

Our church had a baptism service the other weekend. It was quite different than in America- people were standing everywhere, it didn’t seem to really be organized (though it totally was), there were random booths set up . . . but the overall theme was the same- people were giving their lives to Christ and making a public display of their commitment. It was really awesome to see!

Here boy!

So today we saw something new- a "firsts". We were stopped at a light (a busy one) and there was a cute dog kinda sniffin' around and running around by the motorbikes. We're sitting at a red light mind you. Seeing dogs all over the place is a pretty often thing. But usually more near stores and such- not just on the road, looking like they have no purpose being there. So I'm watching this dog just walk around the bikes and smell things and then he starts to come towards us. Well then the light turns green, he's right beside us, we hear the faintest whistle and all of a sudden- that dogs LEAPS onto the back of the bike in front of us and proceeds to ride away with his owner!! We were like what?!?! Did that just really happen!!! We followed them down the wrong road just to give Jen time to get the camera out and take a picture!!

The Market

Saw a few "new" things at the market the other day. There is one by our house on our way home everyday and we've been wanting to stop but never have. So we finally did yesterday. As we walked around, we noticed we were the only "fa-rong" (foreigner) there, and soon noticed why. This wasn’t your normal market . . .
We saw a Frog vendor- frogs that looked like they were just prepped for Science Class- slit down the middle, belly up and already char grilled 1/2 way
Raw chicken legs for sale with the feet still on them- white and black variety
Fish vendors who when they say their fish is fresh, mean their fish is fresh! These fish, though laid out on banana leaves to choosing, were STILL breathing!!!!
Many, many, many unidentifiable meats of all sorts and fruits also!
Needless to say, we didn’t stay long.

  1. Hey girls!!!
You've had quite the experiences! I would have loved to have been at the baptism service! The finished product looks great! When I was there a couple of years ago, they were halfway through. Keep up the good work! Love you guys!
