The cool thing though, is that we're able to help out these 80 people by providing jobs and job training! We have all different ages and stages of life- students paying for school, families paying for life, single mom's paying for their kids, grandparents who can't get out and work anymore having a way to pay bills . . . It's been really awesome getting to hear these stories!
And then we had the Swine Flu scare . . . Little Ethan has been sick for a few weeks. On his second trip back to the doctor, they tested him for the swine flu. It takes 3 days to get the results and they had to be quarantined for those 3 days. Well, the tests came back positive, though very weak. But that ment 7 more days of quarantine! No school for the boys and they couldn't leave the house! Let me assure you that Chris and Terra were celebrating when those 7 days were over!

We're moving!!! Yep, Jen and I are headed to the city! And we are SO excited!! We'll be living in a building that Anne rents and used to live in also. It's actually where we stayed when we visited 4 years ago. We are excited because
- We will be in the center of the action :) Even part of the Sunday market is on the street we'll live on!
- Most of our evening activities are close to town. Right now, we're about 30 mins away, riding on the bike. At night that's not a very fun ride. Add in the rainy season and you pretty much never want to leave the house!
- Can you say photo op?! Monks and temples on every corner, crazy traffic, crazy foreigners (I saw a dreaded mullet one time!!), crazy markets . . . it's endlessly colorful!
- More Space!!!! Jen and I love where we live now, but its SO small! We will literally have about 5x more space if not more!
- We will be living above a coffee shop that also has food! Holla if you can hear me on this one!
- It's blessing Anne! Her tenant got sick and had to move out very unexpectedly. She cant pay for that place and her place. We're getting to bless Anne in the process!
- Visitors!! I know you can hear me now!! :) We need room for visitors!! And when guests come stay with us, in the middle of town, they will have their very own floor and bathroom! Oh it doesn't get much better than this!
- And lastly- change is fun! :)

Shabo-shabo-
If you dont know what this is, dont worry cause neither did I! But it's a restaurant where you sit for 1hr and 10 mins (it's timed) and you get to eat unlimited Japanese food and Sushi and all kinds of crazy stuff. There is a boiling pot in the middle of the table for cooking food and there is a conveyor belt that goes around the whole restaurant carrying food. You just sit in your seat and grab what you like as it passes by!
For the first time I had Alaskan Crab- and I liked it!!!! What?! I dont eat ANY seafood!! No- this stuff was made of dreams! OH SO YUMMY!!
These things were SO good! Cucumber roll thingies!
This is the menu outside the restaurant. Click on the image to make it bigger
I did NOT eat this!! Ewwww!! It's something Anne ordered! Yuck!
I love my girls...and miss Sweet Annie. i definitely want to go to this restaurant! Steph- you have mad skills...it's neat to get to be a part of your journey.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see pictures of the new place. What an interesting concept for a restaurant...the whole octopus thing made my stomach do a flip though. :)
